The brilliant and loving Mich Feeney has joined the Magic of Books Promotions team. Her talents and expertise will shoot the promotional company into the stars and beyond. Born and bred in the UK, Holly is getting the chance of a lifetime—six weeks abroad. The Kings, a host family in the US, have invited her to stay with them and get a chance to experience life as an American. When she discovers that the King family includes two teenage boys, will she be glad she came or ready to hightail it back across the pond?

M. B. Feeney is an army brat who finally settled down in Birmingham, UK with her other half, two kids and a dog. Currently at university studying for her BA (Hons) in primary teaching, she procrastinates on her assignments by listening to music of all genres and trying to get ‘just one more paragraph’ written on whichever WIP is open. She is also a serious doodler and chocoholic. Writing has been her one true love ever since she could spell, and publishing is the final culmination of her hard work and ambition.

Her publishing career began with two novellas, and she currently has multiple projects under way whilst Honour, a compilation of her own military based shorts, was released in November 2013 and her short novel, The One That Got Away was released February 2015. Always having something on the go can often lead to block which eventually gets dissolved by good music and an even better book.

Her main reason for writing is to not only give her readers enjoyment, but also to create a story and characters that stay with readers long after the book is finished, and possibly make someone stop and think “what if...”

I've only just met Mich, but I already see a lifelong friend. Her talents go far beyond writing. She's a thankless mother of two, a loving woman to her soulmate and is always thinking of her friends before herself. Maybe that's one of the reasons she's gone into teaching; a chance to shape the young minds of our future writers. I'm so excited to spend time with a generous and loving personality like hers and to learn and grow from her wealth of expertise. My life will never be the same now that you have entered my life.

Hmm, a personal testimony about Mich (M.B. Feeney) . . . Where to start! Shall I do this like a Best Man speech? Yeah, why not
.
*pouts that I don’t have a glass of bubbly to toast this awesome girl*

Well, I first ‘met’ Mich quite a few years ago. I can't remember the exact details, but knowing us two, we were probably up to no good. It was online, of course, but that didn’t stop us! We grew close as friends and then we cemented our friendship by meeting up in person. It was at a Twilight convention (don’t groan, it was a fun weekend! Lol).

Here’s what I’ve learned and loved about Mich over the years:

She is fiercely loyal to her friends and family. No matter what, she’s there. No matter what she’s going through herself, she’s there for her friends.

She has a slight music addiction (which we share). I’ve lost count on the artists we’ve talked about over the years lol.

She also adores her cowboy boots (The Boots Stay on!) I swear this addiction was brought on by Jackson Rathbone, but it’s not like I’d complain. Have you seen that man on stage? Phew!

She loves 1 Direction *coughs* Louis *coughs*

She is one hell of a kick arse author! Have you read her books? Damn, this girl can write! She sticks to normal men! Nope, there’s not a billionaire arsehole in sight, thank God!

She’s training to be a teacher. Now, props to her, because being in a classroom of 30+ kids all day . . . nah lol.

But the thing I love about Mich is this. She’s Mich. She puts on no front. What you see is what you get and that’s quite rare in an author. She hates putting herself out there. She hates pimping herself. She’ll bend over backwards for anyone, but ignores herself.

She is an awesome friend and I know that I can count on her for anything. I know she wants the publishing world to take her seriously, because she lives for books – reading and writing.

And Mich, when you get this, when you sit and read this . . . Thanks. Thanks for being such an amazing friend, an awesome author, and someone anyone can instantly love.

*raises cup of tea*

The moment I read M B Feeney’s first story, I knew I had discovered one seriously talented author. With a British flavour to each of her stories, M B builds strong, unique characters that draw the reader in until they can’t help but become invested. Her latest offering, Dear Diary (The Exchange Series Book 1) is no exception. A great start to what I anticipate will be a fantastic series.
When she’s not busy with writing, her studies and family commitments, M B Feeney is 100 percent committed to supporting the indie writing community. She has not only read and reviewed hundreds, if not thousands of stories over the years, she has always been there to lend an ear, shoulder, or hand any way she can for countless numbers of people.
On a personal level, I’ve known M B Feeney for well over 5 years. She is a true friend, mother, sister and confidante… a woman who is genuine, honest, and generous to a fault. (She is also quite partial to pear cider now and then too lol). She also encouraged me to take my first tentative step into the world of writing, and for that, I will be forever grateful. I can honestly say without a single doubt in my mind, that if it weren’t for one Ms M B Feeney, I would not have become a published author.

L J Harris.

With stories set in England that are witty yet quirky, M.B. Feeney has a way with words that’ll suck you right into her fictional worlds. I'm proud to call her friend.

Men and I are done. Whatever entertaining notions I enjoy while screwing around with the random guys that cross my path, are exactly that. Entertaining.

I don’t want more. I’m not capable of more. More would mean feeling. Would entail wanting. Desiring. And a slew of other emotions I haven’t experienced in over three years. And it’s not due to any stupid naïve intention of trying to keep my heart from breaking, nor is it as a result of having it broken by some poor slob who should have known better.

I can’t feel. I don’t have a heart. Period. And it's going to take more than following some magic yellow brick road to get me a new one. Even if that road does lead straight to Riker ~The only soul on earth who's as close to being dead as I am... and brings me as close to being alive as I'll ever be.

It’s been a week. One whole goddamn week. Every day I tell myself she’ll turn up before the sun does. Then, when she doesn’t, I go to work, convinced I’ll find her here when I get back. I don’t know why I tell myself such bullshit. I’ve never been much for denial in the past. For some reason this time I just can’t get a fucking grip on things. I knew it could happen. Actually, I was pretty damn sure she would bolt as soon as I told her everything. I don’t even know why I knew that, other than she’s a creature of flight who lives in constant fear of being the cause of someone else’s pain.

Ironic, really. Considering how much she’s fucking hurting me by being gone. Only she can’t see that. Or maybe she does. I don’t know. I just know she believes staying will hurt me more than leaving. She’s fucked up in the head that way. Fucked up in the heart. Fucked up to her very core. And if I ever find the bastard who fucked her up, I’ll kill him.

Her flight for California departs in less than five days. I’m guessing Kirsten will show up on day six to collect all of the stuff Quinn couldn’t carry on foot when she left here in the middle of the night. I had half a mind to offer her a ride, but she seemed hell-bent on sneaking out, so eventually, I just faked sleep to make it easier on her. But it’s been a motherfucking week. And I’m done faking sleep and making shit easier for her. If she wants out, I’m going to make her tell me. To my face. And then I’m going to convince her she’s wrong.

Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar….oh…and I write some ;-)

Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful 5 year old little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that’s the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess – just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name…If I wasn’t a writer, I would work on a horse ranch – I’m an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I’m going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate…or coffee…if you bring me both, I’ll probably love you forever.A gypsy at heart, I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children’s Lit to Thrillers.

I happily reside in sunny Florida (for now) and always enjoy hearing from fellow readers!!

SUNDAY BRUNCH and the "Man Bun" Obsession

So, this one starts out with a little pre-story...otherwise this post won't make sense and I'll just sound like a weirdo.

Or...more of a weirdo than usual.

Anyway, for those of you who have read the Finding Nolan books, you may (or may not) remember Brett the producer. Well, Brett is older than the other Nolan Stud-muffins, but he's still got it going on and...he's definitely rocking the man bun.

Like this guy ;-)

Anyway, while Brett was a pretty minor character in the first two books, he's taking on a much bigger part in book number three. Hence, the man bun topic.

A while back, I was chatting with my author buddy Lyssa Layne about the story and how Brett was becoming kind of a big deal (like...he may need his own book, big deal) and somehow, men with long hair, and specifically buns, became kind of a thing between us. Not that we needed more topics to bond over, but hey, there's nothing wrong with having a pal who appreciates a hot man bun with you.

However, we don't exactly live near each other, so checking out men together requires going the extra mile... and taking secret pics of men with buns... and sending them to one another. Yeah. I know. STALKER ALERT. But no. It's a writer, thing. I swear...

Which brings me to how this whole thing ties in with Sunday Brunch. Because....after brunch we went out to this art festival and, lo and behold, it happened - a man bun sighting. Needless to say, I had to find a way to snap a pic without anyone noticing...and it wasn't easy! But, in the end, I made it happen. For Lyssa. For Brett. And for man bun lovers everywhere!

Five Things Only Authors Get Excited About

1. Writing the title and author name on the first page of a new project.

What is more exciting than that? Number two...

2. Writing 'the end.' on the last page of your most recent project.

It's a temporary high, so bask in it for as long as you can, because next you'll be editing...and no one get's excited about that.

3. Covers. Oh yeah!! We loooove book covers.

Even when we're nowhere near finishing a manuscript...we're looking at book covers. When we find the perfect one, or land the perfect artist...now that's something to jump up and down about.

4. Re-reading something you wrote and were certain was total shit only to discover it's actually brilliant.

I'm happy to say, that years of training myself to write daily have helped in overcoming what I will loosely call 'writer's block' (I have issues with the term, mostly because I have issues with the concept, but I'll save that for another post). Point is, there are those nights when inspiration seems to be lacking and yet you just plow through anyway in hopes of making it through to the other side where you will eventually find 'the end.' You do this, knowing full-well that a great deal of what you type out will need re-writing and deleting. Then, when the time comes and you re-read that first draft - 'Holy shit. When did I write this? This is AMAZING.' Yeah, that moment. Total awesomeness.

5. Discovering an opportunity for a last minute plot twist.

Those rock. I'm going to throw one at you right now.

6. Hitting publish.

It's terrifying. Nerve-wracking. And 'you may want to puke your guts out' agonizing. It's also the most exciting 'writer' thing you'll ever get to do. So do it often!

Why doing research for a book can do bad things to your Google Search History...even when you write Romance.

Back when I first broke into the world of writing, I was all over the place. I'd write a children's picture book one minute and a crime thriller the next. Blood Bound in particular had a scene in it that made pretty much everyone who read it and knows me...well, a little worried. Sadly, I can't even claim to have done a lot of research that time. However, that being said, between Blood Bound, Salty and Drive, for a while there, my search history could easily have taken me from person of interest to prime suspect in a matter of seconds...you know, had I ever been accused of anything other than writing some slightly disturbing shit from time to time.

But...those days are behind me. Speaking of behind me...no...never mind. Won't go there. Some of my research topics are best left to your imagination...

Anyway, I'd like to tell myself that writing primarily romance novels has slowed my strange search requests, but alas, that is not the case.

If anything, writing romance has improved my skills on my quest for more knowledge, which proved to be at almost frightening stalker levels when I began writing TIN and decided this handsome face:

had to be RIKER!

But it wasn't enough that he was hot, with enough muscles, tats and scruff to make me think all the right wrong things while I was writing....I needed to know who he was. For research purposes. To keep things official like. To be a PROFESSIONAL.

Insert Psycho Stalker Moment HERE

So...I implemented all of the skills I've acquired over the last few years since taking my writing from amateur levels up to the pros. I image searched. I clicked on a gazillion links. I scoured pinterest for hours. NOTHING. Just the same fucking (HOT) picture linking back to the same useless site. Then. It hit me. Zoom in on the tats. Those fuckers always mean SOMETHING.

And that my friends...ultimately led me to unveil the identity of my mystery man - the face (and let's be honest...body) which inspired me while writing Riker. It also led me to be a little frightened of myself...and the things I'm capable of.

It's a good thing I'm perfectly sane (hey - who said you could laugh at that?!) because if I ever really lost my shit over a dude and took up stalking...Lord help us all.

Yeah...pretty much.
